With Victoria pulling out from hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games there is now a vacancy for a host city. Birmingham hosted the last games, Glasgow before them and Manchester before them. London has hosted them years ago and as the Capital city they are obliviously in the running, however, as we have seen with the European Capital of Culture and the Eurovision Song Contest – Liverpool are more than capable of stealing the BIG SHOWS and producing a spectacle of an event that will feature moments remembered for years to come!
We have put together a proposal not just for Liverpool but for the whole of Merseyside. The region has the infrastructure already in place, historic venues, party atmosphere, amazing public transport and, best of all, the people themselves! Nobody can top Scousers for friendliness and character and that’s what the Commonwealth Games needs!
Merseyside can truly make the Commonwealth Games a truly special event with majestical, magic moments bringing the Commonwealth of nations together in the “World in one City!” How about the some events being held at the historic, Aintree Grand National racecourse, Anfield, St Helens Rugby ground and even Southport Marine Lake! With our proposal we plan on using all areas of Merseyside!
We’ve had some fantastic events in Merseyside and the Commonwealth Games would cement Merseyside’s Millennium revival!

Financial projections are available for any interested parties wishing to help fund the games.
A copy of the proposal and financial projections have been passed onto Liverpool City Council, Commonwealth Games Federation and Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor.
